Why did my meeting recording only capture my voice?

Short answer

The recording only heard your microphone. With headphones on, other people's voices never reach the mic, so a microphone-only recorder misses them. For online calls, record the meeting's sound as well: send Acta's notetaker, use the Chrome extension with tab audio shared, or use the desktop app, which records the meeting sound and your mic.

How to do it with Acta

  1. 1

Online call? Use a meeting recorder

The notetaker, the Chrome extension or the desktop app records everyone, not just your microphone.

  2. 2

    Chrome extension

If Chrome asks you to share the tab, keep "Also share tab audio" on.

  3. 3

Zoom or Teams app via Chrome

Choose Entire screen and switch on Also share system audio.

  4. 4

    Desktop app on a Mac

Allow System Audio Recording Only, then run the audio check.

What you get

  • Record audio is for in-person meetings
  • The desktop app shows Meeting sound and Your mic meters
  • The notetaker names speakers from the participant list
  • Every way gives the same notes

Good to know

Which way records everyone's voice best?

The notetaker, the Chrome extension or the desktop app. Record audio hears only your microphone.

The Meeting sound meter doesn't move

Make sure the meeting plays through your usual speaker or headset. On a Mac, allow System Audio Recording Only for Acta.
