How do I record and transcribe a Zoom meeting without a bot joining?

Short answer

Use an AI notetaker that records from your own computer instead of joining the call. Acta's desktop app for Windows and Mac records the Zoom desktop app, and the Acta Chrome extension records Zoom in the browser, so no bot or extra participant appears in the meeting. After the call, Acta writes the transcript with speaker names, a summary and the action items.

How to do it with Acta

  1. 1

    Install the Acta desktop app

Download it for Windows or Mac from acta.ai/desktop and log in with your Acta account.

  2. 2

    Start your Zoom meeting

The desktop app opens by itself when a Zoom meeting starts. You can also set it to record automatically.

  3. 3

    Record from your computer

Acta records the meeting audio on your computer. Nobody sees a notetaker join the call.

  4. 4

    Read the notes

When the meeting ends, open it in Acta for the transcript with speaker names, the summary and the action items.

What you get

  • No bot in the participant list
  • Works where meeting bots are blocked
  • Transcript with speaker names and timestamps
  • Summary, action items and a follow-up email draft
