How do I transcribe an audio recording with AI?
Short answer
Upload the file to Acta. Acta takes MP3 or M4A recordings you already have, from the web or from the mobile app, and writes the same notes as for a live meeting: a transcript with speaker names, a synopsis, the decisions, next steps and action items.
How to do it with Acta
- 1
Have the file ready
Acta takes MP3 or M4A recordings, such as a voice memo or an exported call recording.
- 2
Upload it
Upload from Acta on the web, or from the Acta app if the recording is already on your phone.
- 3
Let Acta process it
Longer recordings take a little longer.
- 4
Read the notes
Open the meeting from My meetings: the Overview has the summary, and the Transcript tab has every word with speaker names.
What you get
- MP3 and M4A files
- Transcript with speaker names
- Summary, decisions and action items
- Ask Acta about the recording
Good to know
What happens if the recording has no speaker names?
People show as “Speaker A”, “Speaker B” and so on, rather than a wrong guess. The words are still split by speaker.
Can I ask questions about an uploaded recording?
Yes. Open Ask Acta on the meeting and the answer comes from what was said.
